Hey, Kids Are People, Too!

That bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you."

Let me say at the start, it should be understood,
That bad things can happen to those who are good.
If you're banged by a bad thing, remember it's true
Asking for help makes it better for you.
Bad things come in many different sizes. Some are little bad things, like
a bump or a bruise. Some are bigger bad things, like losing your dog or
failing in school. And some bad things are even bigger than that.
For each bad thing, it's important to remember that there are people
who can help. A doctor or a nurse may help when your body is hurt or sick.
A teacher may help when you don't understand your math. Mom or Dad
may help when someone mean makes you sad.
If we want to tell the truth, sometimes we are part of the problem. Maybe
we lose our temper. Maybe we do something that we know we shouldn't do.
That doesn't make us bad. That makes us real.
Real people, kids and adults, sometimes need help. That's okay. If you
need help, find somebody that you trust and tell them. If you see a
counselor or a therapist, good for you. You know how to get help when you
need it. That's an important thing to learn. Ask for help.
You can feel better. You have all the things you need right inside you.
You just need a little help learning how to use them. It's impossible to stop
all bang-ups from happening. That's just a part of life. You can learn how
to stop letting bang-ups keep you sad or mad or feeling bad. That's a very
good thing to learn.
